Angel Watch Helps Migración Colombia In Medellin Prevent Entry From Sex Offenders

The ties between the governments of the United States and Colombia are not severed. US Homeland Security is sharing it's Angel Watch database with Migracion Colombia and it's already reaping massive benefits.

The last three weeks living in Colombia have been interesting to say the least. We have seen our polarizing presidents locked in a war of words which has ignited a hidden river of xenophobia in both countries. Yet with that looming over our heads as immigrants to Colombia, there is a beacon of hope to a completely unrelated issue - foreign tourists coming to Medellin to abuse the culture and people, and most devious, the children.

The DHS Angel List Is Preventing Serial Sex Offenders From Entry Into Colombia

I have to take a moment here to say that I love this initiative. For the new people here or those who weren't here early last year, this is a contentious issue for everyone. Colombians and US Citizens alike. None of us want the scum of any country coming here. The US Government feels the same way and has shared the Department of Homeland Security's "Angel List" with Migraćion Colombia and in the past 10 days this has prevented 2 perverts who found themselves on this list from entering Medellin. I'm sorry if that offends people to call them perverts, but if they have found themselves on this list, they are SERIAL offenders. They are scumbags, and in my opinion sub-human. I honestly don't want to hear anything about "Minor Attracted People" because that's just a nice way of saying child molestor.

Last week one US Citizen from Ohio, as if you can't tell by the jacket, was stopped at Rionegro International Airport for appearing on the Angel List. We don't know who he is due to Colombia's press privacy laws, but if someone knows him, please pass this along so he can hear everything I'm about to say in the next section and in the accompanying video. Past this guy, there was another man from Washington state who was stopped at Jose Maria Cordova for appearing on the Angel List. I hope this serves as a warning to the other scumbag perverts trying to come in here. For those of us who had to live through the repercussions of the acts of Timothy Livingston here, this couldn't have happened soon enough.

If You're Not A Pervert On That List, Then Why Care?

I can already hear the trolls and pervert apologists now... Why do I care? Well, to many THIS is what they think that all US citizens are. I hate to break this to you, but to many locals, they don't interact with many gringos, so their only frame of reference is from the news and social media. They all see the mountain of videos of the idiots highlighting the beautiful women, written with the subtext that the women of Medellin are here just to please them sexually and fulfill their fantasies, and of course since it's the former home of the psychopathic killer Pablo, they make videos about cocaine under cute terms for the drug like "nose nachos", "nose beers" or "sugar". Trust me the locals see this and since so many people romanticise Escobar, drugs and Paisa women, the locals see that as what we are all about. Then they see the news of these two mental midgets and it's all confirmed.

When you add this to the past of Timothy Livingston and John Paulous, you can understand where they're coming from. Then, right or wrong, they see the number of gringo investors, and correlate that with the rising rent and availability of properties particularly in Laureles and El Poblado, and the image of gringos in this city is at an all time low.

The problem is that I live here, as do MANY foreigners who have zero interest in the nightlife and getting coked up and going on tusi fueled rampages. In fact if you ask anyone who has lasted here more than six months, and the draw of avoiding Parque Lleras is stronger than ever. I won't even go over there unless I'm going to Veteran night at El Parche Grill (Shameless Plug). One of the reasons is that I don't vibe with that drug fueled crowd looking for easy sex. The other is that since the Police don't know me, they have to assume that I'm one of the gringos that is and I get stopped every time I'm there. I'm not doing anything, and once they see my Cedula, they let me go, but I don't even want to deal with that if I don't have to. This is why I care - the police can't tell by sight who is a narco or sex tourist and who isn't

Hey Scumbags, Stay Home

Yeah, you know if you're a scumbag deep inside. If you would be embarrassed to tell your mother about all that you did here in Medellin, stay home. So many people ask the same question frequently, 'Is Medellin dangerous?' the short answer here - It can be. That depends on you. Your level of street smart, what you are going out looking for, and how drunk/drugged out you get are the true determining factors of your safety here. If you go out trolling Lleras, Provenza, La 70 for sex and drugs, hell yes it's dangerous, and I hate to say this, you bring whatever negative you recieve upon yourself. You should have zero expectations of safety. If you are truly coming for the culture, weather and to explore a new land and you keep your head about you, this is a truly beautiful place.

So as I'm gonna lay out in the video below, being a tourist here is a privilege and a great responsibility. Nobody here owes you ANYTHING just because of the name on the front of your passport. If you think like that you're just going to be a mark here. Most importantly if you're not going to be respectful of the culture, stay the fuck home. Even though it's only February, we've hit our limit of scumbags for the year. There is so much more to this place than the partying and the girls. We're going to be working with Medellin.co to produce a guide for medical tourism, which will showcase the exquisite medical treatments available in Medellin. We'll also be doing some eco-toursism work with them this year. Stay tuned. But most of all, stay classy and respectful. Don't be the "Ugly American"
