If you ask what I miss most from back home, once you take family and friends out of the picture, it’s always the same answer. Taco Bell.
Yeah, I know. I love great food, I love fine dining, but Taco Bell hits a different note. It’s simple, consistent, and the taste hasn’t changed for as long as I can remember.
Every other chain tweaks its flavors over time. Taco Bell stays the same. Love it or hate it, you know what you’re getting. I’ve always believed a Taco Bell here would kill it. KFC and Pizza Hut do great business in Medellín, and they all share the same owner. So why no Taco Bell? Apparently a Yum Brands territory issue is to blame.
Yes, I know it's not real Mexican food. But objectively speaking is Barita Burrito? Is Taco House? My guess is that Taco Bell would do well here because the muted flavors fit the Colombian palate, but sadly, there is no Taco Bell here because of a Yum Brands territorial dispute.
So what shall we do? A small group of entrepreneurs saw an opening, and are filling a void that has no business being there to begin with. The restaurant is called Crunchies, which I'll admit sounds like a childish name for a restaurant until you find out what they are gaining fame for. They make a legitimate Crunchy Wrap. They can't call it what it is because of copyright laws, but I'm free press, so I can - It's a damn 1:1 Crunchwrap Supreme! They have 2 variants, the one I had which is the classic Taco Bell flavor and they even have a legitimate Buffalo Chicken variation. In addition, they also make a quesadilla which has the Taco Bell flavor profile.
The ingredients are fresh. That alone beats the US Taco Bell. But the flavor hits just like you remember. No cheap knockoff vibes, no half-done recipes. This isn't "We have Taco Bell at home" you can tell that their team put effort into making the flavors match. It shows and I appreciate their effort in this.
I recommend that if you want to remember the taste of a Crunchwrap Supreme, but don't feel like traveling to Panama to get it, Crunchies is your place. They are a small kitchen, 3 passionate people put this together and knock it outta the park.
Here is how you can order your own:

WHATSAPP - +573113039484
INSTA - @crunchiesmedellin
RAPPI - rappi.app.link/Crunchies_Medellin
I know Rappi is the easiest way at times, but any time you can, try and order direct from the restaurant. Their delivery was fast and friendly.
Get your taste of nostalgia. Crunchies not only delivers to your door, they deliver on your memory of home. The only thing that is missing is a Baja blast, and again don't get me started there...
